Refund & Cancellation Policy
What happens if your plans change — including exactly what we charge and what the airline charges.
The short version
You can usually cancel for a full refund within 24 hours of booking if you booked at least seven days before departure. After that, two separate charges may apply: the airline's own penalty under your fare rules, and our service fee for processing the change or refund. The exact amount of our fee is stated to you before you authorize it. Some fares are non-refundable by airline rule, and no agency can override that.

1. What this policy covers
This policy applies to air tickets booked through BookCheapNFly LLC, doing business as Airfare Tickets, whether booked by telephone at (866) 886-4675 or through a request submitted on this website. It sits alongside our Terms & Conditions.
Two sets of rules govern every ticket. The first is the fare rule set by the operating airline, which determines whether a ticket can be refunded or changed at all and what the airline charges to do so. The second is our service fee for handling that request on your behalf. We cannot waive an airline's rules, and we will always tell you what they are before you book.
2. The 24-hour cancellation rule
Under United States Department of Transportation regulations, for tickets purchased at least seven days before the scheduled departure of a flight to, from, or within the United States, you may cancel within 24 hours of the original booking and receive a full refund with no penalty and no service fee from us.
To use this right, you must contact us within that 24-hour window — by phone is fastest and is the method we recommend, because the clock is measured from the moment of ticketing. If you email outside our email response times you may fall outside the window, so please call.
This right does not apply where the ticket was purchased fewer than seven days before departure, or to itineraries that do not touch the United States, though many carriers apply a similar courtesy anyway. Ask the agent and we will check what applies to your specific ticket.
3. Our service fees
Outside the 24-hour window described above, a service fee applies to processing a voluntary change, cancellation or refund request. This fee covers the work of contacting the airline, applying the change, reissuing or voiding the ticket, and processing the refund back to your original payment method.
The amount varies depending on the airline, the fare type, the complexity of the reissue, and how close to departure the request is made. We will state the exact amount to you before you authorize it — on the original booking call, and again at the time of any change or cancellation. No service fee is ever charged without your prior authorization for a specific stated amount.
This fee is separate from and in addition to any penalty the airline charges. It is non-refundable once the work has been performed, and it applies per passenger on the booking, not per booking.
We do not charge this fee where:
- you cancel within the 24-hour window described in section 2;
- the airline cancels your flight or makes a significant schedule change and you choose a refund;
- you are involuntarily denied boarding;
- we made an error in issuing your ticket.
We disclose this fee before you pay for your ticket. It also appears in our Terms & Conditions and in the footer of every page of this website.
4. Airline penalties and fare rules
Each fare carries its own rules, set by the airline and not by us. Depending on the fare you choose, those rules may permit a full refund, permit a refund less a penalty, permit a change for a fee plus any difference in fare, permit a change but no refund, or permit nothing at all. Penalty amounts vary widely by carrier, route, cabin, and how close to departure you are.
Airline penalties can also change based on factors including the fare class booked, the date of travel, the destination, and whether the ticket has been partially used. When you call, the agent will read you the current applicable terms for your specific ticket before any change is made.
5. Non-refundable and restricted fares
Many discounted, promotional and consolidator fares are non-refundable. On a non-refundable ticket, cancellation typically produces no cash refund. Depending on the carrier, you may receive a travel credit for future use, usually less a penalty and usually with an expiry date, or you may receive nothing beyond the refundable government taxes.
Some reservations also cannot be partially cancelled — on a multi-passenger or multi-segment booking, the airline may require the whole booking to be cancelled together. Where that is the case, we will explain it before we act.
We will always tell you at the time of booking whether the fare you are buying is refundable. If the answer matters to you, say so before you authorize payment, and we will price a more flexible option so you can compare.
6. How to request a change or cancellation
- Call us at (866) 886-4675 with your confirmation code ready. This is the fastest route and the only reliable one if you are inside the 24-hour window or close to departure.
- Or email support@airfare-tickets.com from the address on the booking, with your confirmation code, the passenger names, and what you want to do. Email requests are actioned within one business day. Do not use email if your departure is within 72 hours.
- We will confirm what the airline permits, the airline's penalty, and our service fee, and we will get your authorization before charging anything or making an irreversible change.
Important. A request is not a cancellation. Your ticket remains live until we confirm in writing that it has been cancelled or refunded. Do not assume a voicemail or an unanswered email has cancelled anything.
7. Refund processing times
Where a refund is due, we submit it to the airline promptly, normally within one to two business days of your authorization. After that, the timeline is largely outside our control:
- Airline processing — typically 7 to 30 business days, and occasionally longer for international carriers or during periods of disruption.
- Card issuer posting — typically a further 1 to 2 billing cycles after the airline releases the funds.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method used for the booking. We cannot refund to a different card, to a different person, or in cash. If you would like a status update, call us with your confirmation code and we will check where the refund sits.
8. Partially used tickets and no-shows
If you have flown one or more segments of an itinerary, any refund is calculated by the airline on the unused portion only, and is usually substantially less than a proportional share of the fare. On many fares the residual value of a partially used ticket is zero.
If you do not travel and do not cancel before departure — a "no-show" — most airlines treat the entire ticket as forfeited, including any remaining segments. Whether any refund is available in that situation is entirely at the airline's discretion. If you know you will miss a flight, call us before departure; a cancellation made even an hour before scheduled departure usually preserves more value than a no-show.
9. If the airline cancels or changes your flight
If the operating airline cancels your flight, or makes a significant change to the schedule, you are generally entitled under DOT rules to a full refund to your original payment method if you choose not to accept the alternative offered — regardless of whether your fare was non-refundable.
In that situation we do not charge our service fee. Call us and we will process the refund or rebook you, whichever you prefer. Note that a refund of the fare does not automatically include compensation for hotels, connecting transport or other losses; those are governed by the airline's contract of carriage and, for some international itineraries, by applicable passenger rights regulations.
10. Involuntary refunds and denied boarding
Where you are involuntarily denied boarding on an oversold flight, the airline's own denied boarding compensation rules apply and are paid by the airline directly to you. We will assist you in pursuing it and will not charge a service fee for doing so. Refunds arising from airline insolvency are subject to whatever process the administrator or the card scheme's chargeback rules provide.
11. Travel insurance
Because most discounted airfares are non-refundable, travel insurance is worth considering, particularly for expensive itineraries, travel far in advance, or trips where a known risk exists. Policies vary; read what any policy actually covers before relying on it. We are not an insurer and do not provide insurance advice.
12. Disputes and chargebacks
If something looks wrong on your statement, call us first at (866) 886-4675. Most billing questions are resolved on the same call, and we hold the call recording in which the amount was authorized.
Filing a chargeback for a service that was properly authorized and delivered will not cancel your ticket and may leave you with neither the ticket nor the refund while the dispute runs, which can take several months. We respond to all chargebacks with the booking record, the itemized authorization, and the relevant call recording. If we got something wrong, we will fix it without a dispute; we would rather hear from you directly.
